Josh Fitzpatrick, a former television meteorologist once known across Charlottesville, Virginia, has been arrested in Ohio on serious criminal charges. Fitzpatrick, 42, is accused of recording a sexual encounter without consent and later using that footage in an act of extortion.
Ongoing Case Leads to Arrest in Ohio:
The arrest came on April 22, 2025, after a Virginia fugitive warrant was executed with the help of Ohio law enforcement. According to Albemarle County Police, the case began when a victim reported being threatened with a video secretly taken after a consensual encounter. Police believe there could be more victims and are urging anyone with information to step forward.

Fitzpatrick had resigned from his role at NBC29 earlier in March and quickly moved out of state, just as the investigation began gaining traction. Once celebrated for his presence on TV and popular across social media, he now awaits extradition to Virginia, where he faces felony charges of sexual extortion and unlawful image creation.
His next court date in Virginia will be scheduled after his return. The investigation remains ongoing.
