On Tuesday, April 29th, early in the morning, a fire broke out at the Croma showroom located in Link Square Mall, Bandra West, Mumbai. The incident occurred just a day after a major fire at the Enforcement Directorate office in South Mumbai, raising concerns about fire safety in the city. The fire was first reported at 4:11 a.m. and quickly escalated to a level three fire by 4:49 a.m., as declared by the Mumbai Fire Brigade.
Major Fire in Showroom Basement
Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported in this incident. Firefighters responded promptly with substantial resources, deploying 12 fire engines, nine jumbo water tanks, two breathing apparatus vans, one rescue van, and a quick response vehicle. The 108 emergency ambulance service was also kept on standby to provide immediate medical assistance if needed. The fire was primarily confined to the basement of the showroom, but thick smoke spread rapidly through all three basement levels, the ground floor, and three upper floors, severely reducing visibility. Fire crews used three small hose lines and 12 motor pumps to control and eventually extinguish the fire. Teams from the Mumbai Fire Brigade, police, Public Works Department (PWD), and local municipal staff were present at the scene to manage the situation and assist in the investigation. The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.Â

This incident highlights the importance of fire safety measures and the swift response of emergency services in preventing casualties and limiting damage during such emergencies.
